Welcoming in Fall!

What do you think of when you think of Fall? Many people think of the loss/end of Summer, or the early nights and late mornings, nasty weather, and busy school schedules… All those things can be pretty overwhelming to our spirits and I think it’s a good idea to focus on the POSITIVE aspects of Fall!

Fall is a great time to get organized! We will be spending a lot of time indoors for the next few months so let’s take the opportunity to get things spic and span and in their place! I like to start with the yard!

- Mow the lawn (You may want to hose off the mower before you store it away too)

- Fluff up and weed the flower beds

- Pull all those dead flowers out and trim the hedges before it gets frosty!

- Hose off the Patios/Decks/ Driveways

- Clean BBQ and Outdoor Furniture and cover with plastic or store in shed or garage

Now that the outside is looking good you can get the inside organized and cleaned up so you can actually enjoy a clean cozy house during those blustery days (and nights)!

- Put away your summer clothes and shoes (tuck them in the back of the closet or get those nifty totes so you can store them safely in the attic or garage!)

- Go through closets and get rid of things you don’t need or use and donate them to your favorite charitable organization.

- Recycle all the junk mail that piled up while you were out playing around during the Summertime!

- Organize your storage spaces like Kitchen Pantry/Cupboards/Closets/Garage so when you do need something you can easily find it!

- If you are feeling really motivated – Shampoo your carpets, clean under the Stove, Fridge, and Washer & Dryer!

- Stock up! Get canned foods, batteries, flashlights, candles and blankets ready for a power outage, or just so you don’t have to run back and forth between your car and the grocery store so much! Also restock your medicine cabinet (it's almost Flu season)

Last, but not least, surround yourself with things and people you love! Get yummy smelling candles out and make the house smell inviting when you walk through the doors after a long day. Put pretty, cozy blankets and throw pillows on the couch so when you do finally get a chance to sit down you are relaxed! Stock up on games and activities that will entertain the kids when they are trapped indoors because of weather, and organize your videos and DVDs so when it’s time to snuggle down for a family movie night or just a night in by yourself or with your Honey everything will be ready and in its place. There is nothing like coming home and knowing things are clean and organized and feeling free to enjoy the evening!

Here’s to a Happy, Cozy, Relaxing Fall to all of you!
